02newsliners10-09Ainee Shehzad showcased her exquisite furniture collection from September 4-7 in her front yard. The show was a success, with many of the pieces sold on the opening day.

What stood out was attention to detail as one entered the gates. The bookshelves had books and other decorative items while certain pieces were placed together in order to give the customers an idea as to how one can mix and match the modern with the contemporary. Not overly priced, the variety of items included candlestands, sofas, console tables, buffet tables and large dining tables, and were priced from Rs 4,500 to Rs 145,000. The price list also included the fancy names of every piece, such as the Mozart Symphony Mirror, Mosoko side table and the Royal Tudor side table. Visibly inspired by her travels abroad, Shehzad’s collection ranged from grandiose Italian designs and mythological figurines to intricately carved classic pieces and contemporary furniture with straight lines.

Shehzad, an academic who teaches as well as trains other faculty members, started designing furniture about 12 years ago. She currently exhibits thrice a year, with each of her collections as large and varied as this one. This collection boasted 92 items.
