Great job! Just to share my experience... I am working in New York for 8 years now. I have applied for canadian and european visa number of times on my Pakistani passport. While they were never rejected but the process is very discriminatory. At one time, I went with my friend holding indian passport to apply for Italy visa. She got the visa in 2 hours, and it took me 2 weeks. Furthermore, I have travelled to Germany many times in last 8 years and have 4 visas issued by them. It usually takes them a day to issue visa, but not anymore. When i went there this week, I was told to wait 10 days, as all schengen states have to give the clearance. I am still waiting. We Pakistanis are a victim of discrimination but then it is only because of the examples that our fellow countrymen have created. Thanks! I find that worth remembering, though we do have this stellar reputation for a reason. While much of the world is xenophobic with a closed borders mentality in this recessionist era you cannot deny that Paks are the masters of wrongdoing. Bribe a bank manager to say you have cash, fake a document, ask so and so to ask so and so who is such and such in xyz consulate, many overstay their visas, work more than they should, scam their way in to abusing the system, and lets not even go in to the scarier things that they do. I find it humiliating to be unwelcome and suspect because of my name and passport but I hate the scamsters and violent crazies who have given me this reputation so much more... with every fibre of my being in fact. I saw someone say on the BBC "While its true to say that not all muslims are terrorists, it does seem that all terrorists are muslims". Sigh.....
