Watch the video and tell us what Tapu Javeri may be texting as he listens to Meera nervously jabber on, maintaining his deadpan expression nearly the entire time.

Please save me. Meera is on crack. May claw own eyes out. Help.

    “i’d still hit that.”

    Sidrah,

    I think it would be

I wouldn’t hit her even if I was straight

I love making fun of people like Meera as much as anyone else, but honestly, this is now getting a little mean (not this post per se, but the Meera obsession in general). About 400,000 people have emailed/FBed me this video. Since when did it become acceptable to make fun of people for what languages they can’t speak?

    We should leave her alone.

Ahsan: What makes this video so great is Tapu, not Meera. His reactions remind me of those people who tried to act all nonchalant while watching the 2 Girls 1 Cup video before eventually cracking.

  • Ahsan said:

Haha ok fair enough, but it just takes me back to high-school days where people are picked on for reasons that they have no control over.

  • Nadir Hassan (author) said:

Sure it’s mean and unfair. But I certainly laughed when I saw it although I did also feel sorry for her. And its not all that different from stuff like the Chand Nawab video and every one I know found that hilarious.

I think I would’ve found it funny if it was Shoaib Akhtar. No one else.

so she cant speak english. big deal. i actually didn’t find it funny, just felt sorry for her. ahsan is right–picking on her is very high school. and this blog certainly has better objects to crucify than meera.

What’s the name of this show? Was the actual episode ever aired on TV? And when?

  • Hasan said:

Funny or not that’s up to the viewer. What I can’t get myself around to understand is that why use English when one doesn’t have a reasonable command over it? Be it our cricket players in post match interviews or Meera interviewing Tapu Javeri. What have they got to prove? That they are somehow superior to those who can’t? If that’s the case then surely having a light moment at their expense shouldn’t be too much perturbing. Moreover feeling sorry for Meera over her use of English language seems to me a wee bit condescending. Just why should we feel sorry for her use of English when she is there in the full glare of the media doing something she has no command over. I would have felt sorry for her if she had an accident or something. As a matter of principle however it is not fun to laugh at anyone for whatever reason let alone their use of English. It is still a reality that most of us do that daily, maybe not even realizing it.

Tapu was actually recording Meeras attempts at speaking english. Apparently a 40min recording. Anyway this is from a pilot shot for Aag TV last year. Bc of what a terrible fiasco it turned out to be, the show was shelved. But now the clips from it have made it to youtube. Quite sad really.

  • Nadir Hassan (author) said:

idontwantthiscommenttracedbacktome: Aag ditches show that turn out to be fiascoes? And yet Zaid Hamid and Ahmed Qureshi are on the air.

  • Hasan said:

Not sure about Aag, however the clip was recently used by Geo in its flagship comedy Hum Sub Umeed Se Hain. Though Meera is there in full glory Tapu was replaced by a caricatured Chaudry Shujaat!
