Religious Leaders Imply Ahmedis not Victims

Drowned in sorrow: Men console each other after the deadly attacks on Ahmedi places of worship on May 28. Photo: AFP
First they condemned the attacks. Religious parties got together after the May 28 attacks on the Ahmedi places of worship and termed them un-Islamic (while tempering their criticism with some conspiracy theories). The News reported this:
Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Syed Munawwar Hasan termed the attacks on the Youm-e-Takbeer a conspiracy to trigger a civil war in the country and justify the US interference in the country. He said Islam strongly prohibited persecuting minorities and causing any harm to their worship places. He said the minorities in the country had always been secure and Islam made it a state responsibility to protect them.
Of course, everyone knows that minorities have NOT always been secure in Pakistan, but at least the religious parties agreed that the attacks on the Ahmedi community “were uncalled for and condemnable.”
But clearly it was false sympathy and crocodile tears. The view that the attacks were also, as reported by The News, a foreign “conspiracy to malign the country in the world in order to put more pressure [on Pakistan] regarding a change in the blasphemy laws” came with a sickening twist yesterday.
A BBC Urdu article reported on a Lahore meeting of leaders of the Muttahida Tehrik-i-Khatm-i-Nabuwat where the attendees concluded that the May 28 attacks on Ahmedis were part of a conspiracy to repeal the laws against them and challenge the finality of the Prophethood. There is an inherent insinuation that Ahmedis were an active part of the conspiracy; that Ahmedis hired terrorists to kill other Ahmedis in order to garner attention because they want to remake Islam. So, Ahmedis are not the real victims here?
This is like 9/11 conspiracy theorists: Americans killed Americans to launch a crusade against Islam.
Further, a Dawn.com report referencing the BBC article said that “the gathering was attended by leaders of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Jamiat-i-ulema-i-Islam Fazlur Rahman group, Jamaatud Dawa and Markazi Jamaat-i-Ahl-i-Sunnat among others” and that “Maulana Ilyas Chinioti, a member of the PML-N and the Punjab provincial assembly, condemned Nawaz Sharif’s statement in which he had sympathised with the Ahmadis and called them his brothers.”
Maulana Chinioti seems to be openly preaching that non-Muslims are lesser humans: only certain Pakistanis who are brutally massacred are worthy of pity. Our religious leaders believe Allah to be the most compassionate and merciful (and expect Him to show compassion towards them) but do they not believe they have a duty to love and show compassion in their lives (or even try to show compassion) to all people of all faiths. The people killed and injured on May 28 were innocent people, harming no one, only kneeling before God in peace. What about the verse from the Quran that says “killing one innocent person is regarded as the equivalent to killing all of mankind?”
The US, Israel and India (and whatever other foreign agents are at work) do not have to do anything to “malign the country in the world.” These religious and political ‘leaders’ are doing a fine job themselves.

Ahmadis have a right to live freely in Pakistan but they must avoid trying to justify their status as being a ‘muslim sect’.Nobody, until now, knows who actually perpetrated this plot so you cant refute the significance of’conspiracy theory’ in this regard….Plus Pakistani society, on the whole, is less voilent and respectful towards non-muslim minortiries such as Christians, Hindus, Parsi…can u liken a single incident taking place in Pakistan against minorities to that of Gujrat riots back in 2001 that massacred Muslim minortiy in India ??
Ahamdis become vulnerable to attack because they refuse to acknowledge their status as “non-muslim”(constitutional identity) in Pakistan–Nobody should justify the killing of innocent people either in the name of religion or the war on terror;)
On what basis do you say Usama, that the Ahmadis have “refused to acknowledge their status as non-muslims?” Who decides who is a Muslim or who isn’t in the first place. Our pious parliamentarians or the even pious state of Pakistan?
The Ahmadis have abided by the law. They do not call their “places of worship” mosques; they do not give the azaan publicly; they declare themselves as Ahmadis (and thus non-Muslims as per law) on national documents. So how can you say that they have refused to acknowledge “their status.”
And you say that minority communities have been allowed to practice and live freely in this country. What about the Gojra incident and numerous other incidents which have been conveniently eradicated from memory.
It is also important to keep in mind that the Constitution of Pakistan has been put together by people. It is not the word of God, thus it is not absolute. It’s application is based on human interpretation liable to error. Therefore, while you must abide by it, you are not forced into believing or thinking it is the absolute or correct. And you must think what kind of a person or parliament denounces its own people and leave them vulnerable to such violence.
No, we are not a tolerant people or nation – but we should be. And nothing can justify murder.
Farieha, I have myself known some Ahamdis who covertly spread the false teachings of “Ahmadiyat” under the cloak of “Islam” without letting their actual identity be known. Watch their channels on Youtube and u will find how they portray themselves as the torch-bearers of Islam and delude simple-minded people. This is how they refuse to acknowledge their status.
It goes without saying that Ahmadis are non-muslim because anyone who does not accept Muhammad(SAW) to be the final prophet of Allah is out of the fold of Islam. I, however, dont imply here that they should be treated violently. Some of them may have abided by the constitution accepting their legal identity but the truth is that majority of them still insist on getting recognized as muslims publicly either by concealing it or with non-sensical arguments. Our constitution allows no space for them to preach their religion in the name of “Islam.”
Secondly, there may have been such unpleasant occurances(Gojra and others) against minorities in our country but on the whole our public(muslim majority in particulat) is less violent and respectful towards other faiths. For example, somedays ago i watched a TV show on Geo in which the guests were Sikhs who showed no qualms in saying that they felt more secure in Pakistan than India. I m friends with a couple of Christians but i never noticed them grumbling about the conduct of majority. so its more of a media hype than reality.
Do u imply that its time to repeal blasphemy laws so as to please the minorities like Ahamadis?
Blasphemy laws were drawn out from Quran/Sunna and must not be repealed if we are to keep our religious values intact.
Murder is a gruesome act be it in the name of patriotism, religion or whatsoever..Peace!
Ahmadi Muslims believe in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat exactly like other Muslims. The fact of the matter is that entire Pakistani population was declared non-Muslims on 7th September 1974 because all Muslims believe a prophet of Allah is to come in the person of Hazrat Isa (Jesus Christ). Only Ahmadis believe Holy Prophet (saw) to be Khatam-un-Nabiyeen in totality because they DO NOT believe another prophet from outside Islam will come. On the other hand other Muslims break the seal to bring an old prophet from another Ummah (of Hazrat Musa) into Islam.
Blasphemy laws have absolutely no basis in Quran and Sunnah. Islam has been ridiculed at every level in Pakistan for political gains. It is time to wake up and clean Pakistan from un Islamic laws and brutality being committed in the name of Islam.
Ahmadis were declared as non-muslims becaue they could never prove Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s position as a prophet, messiah-o-maud in the light of Quran/Hadiths.
AS for the second-coming of Jesus(AS), We muslims claim(with authentic sayings of Muhammad(SAW) that the descent of Jesus will not take place as the coming of a new prophet but a follower of Islam who will carry out certain tasks.
Hadrat Abu Huraira reports that the Apostle (PBUH) of Allah affirmed: “No Prophet shall come during the period between me and Jesus (PBUH). And Jesus shall descend. Recognize him when you see him; he is a man of medium height and of a rudy, fair complexion. He will be dressed in two pieces of yellow garment. The hair of his head will appear as if water is trickling out of them, though his hair would not be wet. He will fight for the cause of Islam. He will break the Cross into pieces. He will slay the swine. He will abolish the Jizya on non-believers. In his time God will put an end to all other faiths except the religion of Islam. And Christ will kill Dajjal. He will live on this earth for a period of forty years and at the end of this period he will pass away. The Muslims will offer the funeral prayers of Christ (PBUH). (Abu Dawud, Kitab-ul-Malahim, Bab: Khuruj-ul-Dajjal; Musnad Ahmad, Marwiyat Abu Huraira).
According to another Hatith,
“In My Ummah, there shall be born Thirty Grand Liars (Dajjals),
each of whom will claim to be a prophet,
But I am the Last Prophet; there is No Prophet after Me.”
(Abu Dawood Vol 2 p. 228; Tirmidhi Vol 2 p.45).
Given this, Ahamdis go out of pale of Islam because they believe Mirza Ghulam Ahmad to be the prophet and messiah-o-maud without any concrete evidence either from Quran or Haiths. Can u plz refere to an Aya or Hadith that explicitly confirms Mirza’s grandoise claims as true and valid? Although, ur holy ancestors could not prove it on the floor of assembly.
Please answer this first, then we will talk about the blasphemy laws and their importance in the light of Quran/Hadiths.
Proof! Have you or anyone else seen it. What happened in National Assembly was never published and is still classified. Anyone who claims to see it or quotes it; is either a liar or guilty of leaking classified document. Its pointless and irrelevant to quote long reference from MTKN literature here. Everyone can find them on internet and also Ahmadis point of view at their website. As far as your point of asking questions here this is not a discussion forum. Judging anyone’s faith is crime against God. Since we do it everyday here in Pakistan without any hesitation and fear probably that’s why we are being hated so much all over the world.
The debate of National Assembly is sealed so whatever you say about that is hearsay with absolutely no evidence. If Ahmadis were not able to prove their point of view then it would not have been sealed and on top of that legal hurdles were not have been put to stop Ahmadis from expressing their point of view. The proof is in the pudding. Legal hurdles to suppress the message proves that mullahs were and still unable to prove anything from the Holy Quran and Hadith and have resorted to using of force (1984 laws).
You have quoted Hadith which contradicts you: “No Prophet shall come during the period between me and Jesus (PBUH).” Exactly! Thank you for quoting this. He is a prophet of Allah and there is no prophet between Holy Prophet (saw) and Jesus (as). Thank you for quoting this. This is evidence 1 provided by yourself.
Evidence 2 & 3: The Holy Quran categorically calls Jesus as a prophet: “And will make him a Messenger to the children of Israel (3:49)”. “Jesus said, I am a servant of Allah. He has given me the Book and made me a Prophet.” (19:30) These verses of the Holy Quran will NEVER be cancelled. He will remain a Prophet of Bani Israel.
Evidence 4: Hadith of Sahih Muslim (vol. 4, kitabul fitan) Holy Prophet (saw) has called Jesus who will come in the Ummah FOUR times as Prophet of Allah, Prophet of Allah, Prophet of Allah, Prophet of Allah.
The second Hadith you have quoted talks about prophethood outside Islam (ba’adi in the context means away from me & against me Ref: Holy Quran 45:6, 45:23 – Can there be something AFTER Allah?). Even if you take it “after me”, it does not talk about till the end of times. There was no prophet after him because it was replaced by Khilafat as promised in the Holy Quran.
There is no shadow of doubt that Jesus that is promised in the Ummah will be a prophet of Allah according to Holy Quran and Hadith. More references from Holy Quran and Hadith can be provided.
@ Masood
Mr. Masood !! If you claim that Ahmadis have the same ideology of Khatm-e-Naboowat as other muslims. Then, who do you think Mirza Ghulam Ahmed was? Was he just your leader or what?
And dont start preaching about Mirza as Imam-Mehdi. Bear in mind, Real Imam mehdi will come and put an end to all evil in the world, he will bring peace. Unlike Mirza Ghulam, who died long before 2 bloodeist world wars took place (1930s n 1940-50s), then we have Afghan-Russian war, Iraq-Iran war, Iraq-kuwait tentions, famine in somaila and sudan etc(we have a long long list of chaos, bloodshed in different parts of earth after Ghulam Ahmed’s death)… To put it another way, all the gruesome and horrible things happened right after this self-proclaimed mehdi (Mirza) died??????????
Clarify mirza ghulam’s position !!! what was he? what was he all about?
@Talha
You have mentioned wars, thank you, these were the signs of the second coming of Messiah. The prophecies in all religions about the Messiah/Mahdi/Second coming of Jesus/Kalki Autar indicate great earthquakes, wars and natural disasters will hit the world. Look at the stats of the last 150 years the number has increased significantly. Before Mirza Sahib great scholars of Islam all cried out that the time has come for the Mahdi/Messiah. The prophecies have already been fulfilled including the sun and moon eclipses in Ramadhan.
To understand the position of someone please first state your own religious position what do you consider Jesus Christ? Is he still alive and in the heavens? What is the role of Imam Mahdi? Will he come to end the world with wars or revive Muslims to real Islam? Who is Jesus Christ mentioned in the Ahadith? Will he be a prophet of Allah? Will he be the same old Jesus Christ who was a prophet towards Bani Israel? Will Imam Mahdi and Jesus Christ be two different persons? What is Dajjal? What is Dajjal’s Donkey that he will use for travelling around the world? How will Jesus Christ kill swine and break the crosses around the world. When Mahdi/Messiah comes will the Muslim Ummah welcome them with flowers or will they be against them and persecute them? These are just a few questions that you should first answer.
The status of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad sahib in the eyes of Ahmadis is nothing more than what was promised and prophesied by Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) as the Mahdi and Messiah. Whether you believe him to be that or not is irrelevant. You can quote all the references to prove him liar and I can quote the same references and more from Holy Quran and Hadith to prove him truthful. However the crux of the matter is that the belief in Mahdi and Messiah is not against the teachings of Islam. The only difference between Ahmadis and non-Ahmadis is that Ahmadis believe the awaited person has arrived and non-Ahmadis are still waiting. The rest is all anti-Ahmadiyya propaganda.
Who says Essa(AS) will re-emerge as the new prophet of Allah? Can u please prove it in the light of Hadiths or Quran? His advent as a prophet had taken place long before Muhammad(SAW)and his secon-coming will not cancel the Shariya of Muhammad(SAW)as some other Hadiths reveal that He will descend not as a new prophet of Allah with his own Shariya but as a follower of Islam to carry out certain tasks.How does his second-coming make him a new prophet when he had already come down as a prophet of Bani-Israel?.
Hadrat Jabir bin Abdullah reports that he heard the Prophet (PBUH) as saying: “Then Christ, son of Mary, will descend. The leader of the Muslims will say to him, “Come, lead us in Prayer,” but he will reply, “No be thou your own leaders in prayer.” He will say this out of respect for the dignity that God has bestowed on the people of Islam.” (Muslim, Bayan Nuzul Isa ibn Maryam; Musnad Ahmad, Basilsila Marwiyat Jabir bin Abdullah)
Jabir b. Abdullah relates that while narrating the episode of Dajjal, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) observed: “At that time Christ, son of Mary, will suddenly descend among the Muslims. A congregation will be assembled for prayer and he shall be asked: ” O Spirit of God, come forward and lead (us in Prayer).” But he will say, ‘No, your own Imam shall step forward and act as the leader.’ Thus when the Muslims will have offered the morning Prayer, they will set out to do battle against Dajjal. When that liar will look on Christ (PBUH), he will start melting like salt in water. Christ (PBUH) shall advance towards him and slay him. And it will come to pass that every stone will cry out: ‘Spirit of Allah, this Jew is hiding behind me.’ Not a single follower of Dajjal will escape slaughter.” (Musnad Ahmad, Basissila Riwayat Jabir b. Abdullah)
His descent will not be like that of a new prophet but in the capacity of a follower of Islam.
“Jesus said, I am a servant of Allah. He has given me the Book and made me a Prophet.” (19:30)–We rever Jesus(AS) as the prophet of Bani Israel and do not negate the word of Quran by saying that his second-coming will come to pass as an advent of a new prophet and challenge the postion of Muhammad(SAW) as the final prophet of ALLAh.
As for the second Hadith i qouted earlier, It clearly states that anyone who claims to be a prophet after Muhammad(SAW) is a grand liar. if there is no mention of time and place, it doesnt excuse Mirza to claim his false prophethood either.
You wrote “There is no shadow of doubt that Jesus that is promised in the Ummah will be a prophet of Allah according to Holy Quran and Hadith. More references from Holy Quran and Hadith can be provided.”
Jesus was indeed a prophet of Allah. But he precceded Muhammd(SAW) with respect to his advent as prophet and his second-coming will not be like that of a new prophet and no Hadith or Aya proves this.
@Usama
I was hoping that you’ll provide some reference that tell us that Jesus will not be a prophet of Allah.
The Holy Quran and Hadith (4 references provided earlier) tell us that Jesus is and will remain a Prophet of Allah.
The Hadith of ba’adi does make excuse for a prophet within Islam (I gave 2 references from the Holy Quran what ba’adi means) and also does make excuse for Jesus the prophet of Allah because in other Ahadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) he called the Jesus who will come in the Ummah as Prophet of Allah (Sahih Muslim, Vol. 4, kitabul fitan).
@Masood
You didnt get my point !! ok let me put it this way….. The duty of imam mehdi will be(or was, as you say) to put an end to all evil in the world and get the human life back on track ,as Allah wants… right? If you disagree with this point then you have to tell me what you think about imam mehdi? what are his duties and responsibilities? i guess i dont need to quote hadiths to clarify the duties and acomplishments of Imam mehdi, as common sense tells us that sooner or later, somebody(mehdi) will definitely come as a saviour to rescue the entire humanity.
Now, the sticking point is … if you claim Ghulam Ahmed was that mehdi…. so what were his acomplishments? Did he do what is mentioned in Hadiths? Did he put an end to all evil in the
world(think of all the wars after your Ghulam ahmed)? Did ghulam ahed manage to establish a centralized islamic government? The mind boggles !!!! he didnt even make it to Macca and Madina, let alone establishing an islamic caliphate…
Masood sahab! clarify it with logic
@Masood
I dont mean to put you down, neither do i believe in debates where people just want to shut their opponents up and ram their idsologies down their throat. I want a mature debate. So stick to the facts and logic.
@Talha
I do not agree with your understanding that immediately after appearing of Mahdi there will be peace. This goes against the teachings of Holy Quran. This has never happened in the past and will never happen. If someone is sick and does not go to the doctor for help, mere having a doctor in the city will not help him.
Since this is a magazine blog, and space is limited, I would invite you to visit the Jama’at Ahmadiyya website to learn about the accomplishment of Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and his Jama’at at http://www.alislam.org.
