Over the past five years, Saim Ali has carved a niche for himself not only in the Pakistani fashion industry, but also as a TV host. A graduate of the London Fashion School in Dubai, Saim went on to intern with designers Roopam and Sheetal and subsequently returned to Pakistan to kick-start a career in the fashion-conscious city of Lahore. His motivation stems from his mother Farrah Gillani, a familiar name in the fashion industry. As a child, Saim says he was exposed to karigars and clients who were in and out of his house, and he realised early on that fashion was his true calling. The 26-year-old has showcased his collections at Sarajevo Fashion Week three times and also participated in a show at the Alexandra Palace in London, last year. Saim Ali’s design philosophy is based on fusion, a blend of the East and the West. Just back from a trip to Turkey, his latest collection is inspired by Turkish culture and Sufi tradition.
