A long wait ahead: A young girl tries to hold back her tears as she waits for food with a plate in hand at a relief camp. Millions will be waiting like this for months to come as livlihoods and homes have been lost, and food shortages will arise. Source: Video capture

This video from CNN has some important comments in it from the UN’s special envoy to Pakistan, Jean-Maurice Ripert. Look out for his appearance at about the 1:10 mark in this video. He says that humanitarian assistance for Pakistan due to the floods will be needed for several months until spring (at least six more months) while in Sindh, special help is needed because the floodwaters remain and will remain for 4-5 weeks.

Some of the images here of Pakistan Floods 2010 are heartbreaking: families burying their loved ones, children weeping as they wait for food.
